New Years Resolutions!!

Do we dig em? Un-dig em?

I've never been a compulsory resolution maker but this year I've decided to approach them in a different way than previous standard years versions of "lose weight/eat better/stop eating midnight snacks/exercise more/watch less TV".

Instead of creating resolutions around what seem to be existing negative habits/things in my life and saying:

Lose - Better - Stop - More - Less

I'm going for a more enhancing positive vibe!

So here are my resolutions for 2018 personally & professionally that focus on:

Enhance Develop Explore Promote Expand Strategic

1. Enhancing a growth mindset

2. Develop a writing practice

3. Explore curiosities

4. Promote healthy diet

5. Expand my imagination

6. Strategic planning

1. Enhancing a growth mindset

This year I have undertaken a lot of personal development but it's the growth mindset exercises I do with my daughter that have taught me the most! Getting back to basics + teaching another is the best way to learn!

2. Develop a writing practice

Both a reflective practice meaning a personal journal + written gratitude practice (I am cheating a bit and got the 5 Minute Journal to make it easier), my daughter and I talk about what we are grateful for every night at bedtime BUT I think writing it will enhance the practice. And also just a free for all writing practice with no purpose than to create. Try it! Pick a prompt like Natalie Goldburgs ones, eg ("I remember when", "I want to tell you" and write for 10 minutes non-stop (yes with a pen) without going back to correct grammar or spelling! Check out the rules here.

3. Explore curiosities

OK I'm actually pretty good at taking super random classes coz I just LOVE learning random things but when you're a Mum sometimes months can go by and realize that every new thing explored has been for Eva and not something just for me me.

4. Promote healthy diet

This means being more conscious with my food choices, I'm a sucker for carbs anything and remembering that everything I eat is basically everything my daughter eats means I need to be even more conscious (or wait til she's gone to bed to eat it.....shhhh)

5. Expand my imagination

By reading more fiction! I always have 3-4 books on the go and constantly listening to podcasts but this year - apart from my daughters books - I haven’t read or listened to any fiction stories and I do remember enjoying reading for pure enjoyment.

6. Strategic planning

Professionally this year has been a whirlwind of throwing spaghetti and seeing what sticks but we all know what happens when we do that too much! You don’t make progress in any of them! It’s a super slow and steady approach as it’s just me working on bringing the Sparkle + Conquer vision to life and 2018 already holds a few big events but creating and sticking to a strategic approach to effectively measure (or un-measure) methods and testing ideas I’ll eventually figure out the winning combination!!

So I’ll let you know if this new approach means I can join the 8% of resolution success stories instead of the fail on day one lol! But more importantly if it made a difference to the quality of my life!

I'd love to hear yours! Let me know below!!

Happy New Years Eve Eve see ya in 2018!!
